Living with low vision is a concern for many, especially those age fifty and more. One of the types of eye problems often associated with the people in this age is the age macular degeneration. A degenerative condition of the macula, which is located on the back of the retina in the eye, this may leave the patient with low vision suitable for reading, driving and other close-up work where detailed view is required.
Your eye doctor is your best source for early detection of macular degeneration. He or she can then offer you preferred treatment options, and a full range of glasses specifically for this disease, low vision magnifiers and other aids to help you see better and live a full and active life. What procedures will my doctor use for the detection of early macular degeneration?
The first step your doctor will ask is whether you are experiencing any symptoms of low vision. The symptoms may include blurred vision in the central vision of the field of vision or parts that are still missing, as well as straight lines appear wavy, the inability to recognize colors between two dark or two bright colors and a long recovery time after you were in bright light.
If the diagnosis or to detect the root of your problems, your doctor would also like to find out how vulnerable you are responsible for the development of age-related macular degeneration. Age is a factor that most people with this disease are age and over fifty, though it occasionally affects children. Those with a family history of disease are also at a greater risk of developing so well. Some people have a gene that they are doing in danger. People who are obese, eat a high fat diet and suffer from high blood pressure is a greater chance of developing macular degeneration, such as Caucasians.
What visual aids are available?
After the discovery, your doctor will give you the best options for treatment. The measures include the use of low vision magnifiers and special glasses
Magnifiers can be as simple as a hand-held device all the way up to lenses that clip on your glasses, so you vision for detail when it is needed, and then rotate them out of the way, if you do not need. Special glasses with tiny microscopes allows you to have a very enlarged central vision area, but they are on your regular prescription glasses, so that one under the microscope, if you want to see through the other lenses, a lot of work in the same Bifocal Lenses do. Your doctor can determine if you are an early sign of macular degeneration and provide you with the best treatment options and visual aids.

Prior to February 2004 in the United States, only some regions could have a copy of their Rx. However, if the legislature in the matter, all consumers in the country were already Rights. It means that anyone can make their own choice of what hospital shop or at the top.
The new law does not take out the Authority ophthalmologists, opticians and optometrists, to the installation process. They should all help us see the danger that lies in the purchase of contact lenses without a prescription. In America, the fragile artificial, that the visual correction are similar to pharmaceuticals, where a certified print of the statement has to be made before it is sold as well. Obtaining contact lenses without a prescription is like you are in the firing line. They know that there is no positive effect, but you are still practicing the bad habit. As was already mentioned, it is doubly dangerous because they are not far from infections, irritations and inflammations. Becoming blind May the most terrible situation, but that is not far from happening.
Abrasion, discomfort and pain and swelling lead, among others, are just some of the results of the use of contact lenses without a prescription. This problem is very rampant in the information superhighway, which makes when you change the order, there is no ophthalmologist, optician or ophthalmologist that can each screening. There were even cases of the eye tissue permanently damaged.
There are only a minimum of one year to the Rx of the fragile pieces will be inserted right into your eyes. If it runs, it is necessary for you to see the ophthalmologist, optician or ophthalmologist to another certified pressure of the statement. This can be a very healthy, because you are able to update you about the status of your eye grade. It is even said that inspections should be done on an annual basis.

Everyone loves the look and feel their best, this is a reason that cosmetic surgery is so popular of late. Most people would think that women are the only ones interested in cosmetic surgery, but in reality, almost as many men have cosmetic surgery than women.
Both men and women struggling with self-esteem, and for many, cosmetic surgery is the answer to these problems. The impetus given it often helps them to more success in other areas of their lives, such as career, marriage, etc. men report that they feel more comfortable around women, having cosmetic surgery as well. Most men have cosmetic surgery have one of the five main procedures: procedures to avoid or replace lost hair, breast enlargement, manicure (CFSP), sexual organ enlargement and liposuction.
Many men experience hair loss at an early age, and by the time they take 40-45, are often very self-conscious about the subject. To resolve this problem, they are some form of cosmetic surgery, usually in the form of scalp reduction, hair transplants or flap rotation. The most popular operation is the three transplant surgery, because of the faster recovery time and the fact that the surgery is less invasive and painful than other options.
The men are very striking when it comes to muscles, but for some, no matter how hard the work out or how often they lift weights, they are just not able to build their chests as they wish is the chest, where the expansion of the operation comes into play. This operation uses implants buff up the all important chest muscles so that the male ego a huge increase that may help him in every aspect of life. There are strict after the operation restrictions that need to be followed, but most men report that the results are well worth it.
Men also like to have their nails look clean and trim any time, so that many of them have manicure, pedicure, and even occasionally. While they usually do not get artificial nails, they have their finger and toe nails trimmed, filed, shaped and buffed, and many even have their cuticle as well done.
With so much focus on the health and weight recently, and more men are starting to self-conscious about their extra fat stores, and are turning to liposuction to help solve what they see as a problem. Liposuction is a great way to remove fat from places where diet and exercise does not work, and can really help that there is a slim, trim look they aspire to. Of course, if you’re not still an effective exercise and diet regime, the fat will come back, but it is a great way to get an additional boost.
We all know that men are sensitive when it comes to penis size, no matter how often women tell them they are okay. Men who have this type of cosmetic surgery done to their ego, but as a partner for their own sexual pleasure, regardless of what they can say the opposite. This operation may require additional width of the penis, and elongated.
Men have cosmetic surgery for many reasons, but amazingly enough, it is often only an ego thing more than anything else, and hey, that’s okay!

By the time you finish this short article, you have a new understanding on how to keep your child’s eyes healthy. You will receive a surprise at the end, but not PEEK, please!
Many parents are very concerned about their children’s eyes, and they should be. Our eyes are very important. They really help us in the beauty of life. Can you imagine the nerve of your child losing their eyesight or too shortsighted? There is hope.
I recently discovered two new articles that shed some light on vision problems. Here is the first …
That is to say, “A Vision of Chiropractic: A Study of Chiropractic Spinal manipulative therapy for the improvement of the visual field.” This article was published in the Journal of Chiropractic Education, Spring 2008 by Jung Hansuk, DC, et. al. It is brand new stuff.
Here is the main feature. They measure the visual field of the 103 volunteers. They adjusted 83 of the subject’s neck (44 women and 39 men) and gave the other 30 a friction massage as a control group.
If you were asked, according to the Medline Plus Medical Dictionary, “The vision is the total area where objects can be seen in the peripheral vision while the eye is focused on a central point.”
Now the results. The control group had no significant change in their visual fields. An improvement of visual field was 78% in all subjects adjusted. Wow! 78% had improvement.
The next article of interest is a news report by Katie Wiedemann KCRG-TV channel 9 entitled “Blind Man keeps Insightful trip to a chiropractor.”
Here is what happened …
Doug Harkey, Dubuque, Iowa man whose left eye suddenly stopped working 12 years, thought he was on a routine examination at his chiropractor. But the results of its “normal” adjustment left Doug with a newly discovered vision, while friends, family and some in the medical community dumbfounded. ”
The point of looking at these 2 articles should help you to see that there is a relationship between your cervical spine (your neck) and your eyes. Why is this so important to understand?
In a study by Dr. Gutmann, a German Manual Medicine Specialist, he reported in his evaluation of 1000 infants. What he discovers will shock.
He noted that “approximately 80% of all children are not in autonomic balance.” In other words, all children have neck subluxation similar to those in the studies.
Subluxation is like this. The next time you are in a conversation, take your hands and cover their ears. Their ability to hear the conversation will be reduced. However, you can still hear. This is a kind of what a subluxation or to your nervous system, the communication system of the body. Remove your hands from your ears is like a chiropractic adjustment to your nervous system. Clarity is restored.
Why are 80% of all children subluxated?
Subluxation by stress, whether physical, chemical and / or psychological. Let’s look at each …
Physical Stress – The birth is filled with physical stress, even in the best-case scenario. If you extraction techniques commonly used in hospitals to the mix, you increase the likelihood of damage to the neck.
(An important aside here – if your child is experiencing respiratory distress after birth, they were definitely a neck pain. Respiratory centers of the body in the neck.)
Chemical Stress – The placenta has a fantastic job at keeping your baby safe from chemical stress, or at least it used to.
In 2004, a study was done to test for chemicals in the umbilical cord. “Of the more than 400 chemicals tested, 287 were in cord blood. Of 180 cancer in humans or animals, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system, and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animals.”
Emotional stress – Childbirth used to be seen as a natural, beautiful experience. Now we have convinced that it is a scary, risky procedures, should be signed by a doctor.
With the knowledge about these different burdens subluxation You now understand why Dr. Gutmann found that 80% of the children.
Here is the surprise. Subluxation not only potentially interfere with vision. Subluxation can also have an impact on all types of systems.
According to Dr. Gutmann, a chiropractic spinal check-up “… should be obligatory after every difficult birth.” He noted that from a random group of 1250 babies examined 5 days after birth, 211 suffered from vomiting, hyperactivity and sleeplessness – spinal abnormalities were 95% in this group.
Gutman and colleagues found that an unhealthy spine causes “many clinical features of central motor disabilities to lower resistance to infections-especially ear, nose and throat infections.”
So, what should you do? Make an appointment with a chiropractor and get all the children examined subluxation.

People need to provide good care of their lenses. Cleaning of contact lenses and storing them in the solution must be a daily ritual to make them clean and soft and not let them to dry. Again, this would ensure that the lenses are dust free and would not cause any irritation or itching in the eyes.
An alternative to this is the use of disposables are. Even if there are contact lenses that are disposed of after a day of use, it could be very expensive and many people can not afford them. Contact lens, which will be disposed of once a week or a month or six months or a year are the most popular and affordable types of disposable contact lenses. Disposable contacts should not be used after the expiration date, as this could lead to complications in the vision or the eyes. They are also easy to use and as most doctors tend to before being forwarded to the patient. The most popular among the disposable variety are those that can be replaced if in every week or two weeks. Also available are disposable contact lenses which are disposed of when, within a month or a quarter, they are known as frequent replacement lenses. Contact lenses that can be used for at least six months to a year, the reusable lenses. These are the traditional lenses and are not as disposable contact lenses.
Disposable lenses are available for daily wear and for special applications such as the cornea for correction in the night. The disposable variety for this purpose is also available in the current market conditions.
It is a good practice to remove the lenses used at regular intervals or as prescribed by the doctor. This is because the deposits in the eye can attach themselves to the lenses gradually makes them less safe as time goes by. Of course, this would also mean that the lenses of the eyes are infected, resulting in irritation, itching, and abrasion, as well as the negative vision.

I had 20/20 vision all my life until I was 27 years old. I first noticed a problem while driving at night. It seemed like I was with double vision. So I went to an eye-level physician and was told that I am short-sighted. I can not remember what my prescription was, but the doctor told me I would need glasses to drive, go to the theater or sporting events outside.
Since I was now wearing glasses, I had to go to the ophthalmologist every two years to have my eyes checked. Sometimes my vision was poor, while other times it would be the same. Eight years later, Paul and I married, and he introduced me to juicing and whole-food supplements. Juiced, I never had before in my life, so I was not happy with the boat. According to him just juice for a month or two, I decided to try it. I discovered I actually liked the taste of carrot juice (Green Giant carrots are my favorites). We Juiced carrots almost every day (5 to 6 days a week).
A year and a half later, while driving to work one day, I noticed that my vision was blurry. I was not sent to the ophthalmologist for a few years, so naturally I thought my eyesight had deteriorated. But for the Heck of it, I have my spectacles, to see how things looked. I found I could actually see better with my glasses off! I have not worn since she (it is now 8 years old).
I credit the recovery of my eyesight to our juicing regime as well as the whole-food supplements. I have no more to the ophthalmologist to have my eyes checked, but I am sure they are 20/20. We are still juicing a mixture of carrots, apples, celery and tomatoes, as well as the Pops. Paul and I think this is one of the foundations for good health.

Contact lenses are thin discs that when they are on the cornea of the eye serve as a substitute for eyeglasses. The conditions that corrected by contact lenses are the same as the conditions corrected by eyeglasses and include the following:
• astigmatism (distorted vision)
• Myopia (nearsightedness)
• Hyperopia (farsightedness)
• Presbyopia (need Bifocal)
Just as no two sets of fingerprints are identical, no two pairs of eyes are exactly alike either. For this reason there are different types of lenses for different types of eyes. Read below to find out what type of contact lens is right for you. Hard lenses
If you are looking for the cheapest alternative in prescription lenses, you should consider PMMA lenses. These were the first contact ever developed, and although they are not the common choice among carriers who are still manufactured today. This type of contact lenses is known as a rigid and perhaps a bit harder on the eye. They consist of material more stable than other types of contact lenses. These lenses are made of PMMA, a type of plastic that is extremely durable. You are not aware that the most comfortable lenses on the market, but are very durable, and easier on the budget as more comfortable options. This is not the best option for people with sensitive or irritated eyes.
Hard lenses, breathe
Rigid gas-permeable contact lenses, also known as also known as “RGPs” are a slightly newer version of hard (rigid) lenses made of plastic and other materials, including silicone. An important factor in this type of lens – Fluoropolymers allow oxygen go right through the lens, making it “gas-permeable.” Some of the advantages of RGP’s are that they are better at keeping their shape, creating a crisper drawer vision, they keep the eye moist, and they resist the dust and dirt. This type of prescription contact lenses is ideal for:
• Those whose eyes are overly susceptible to bacteria and are susceptible to infections
• Those who are vulnerable to suffering from dry eyes
• LASIK surgery candidate
• People who participate in sports –
• Users of Bifocal glasses and reading glasses
Soft lenses
Soft contact lenses are made of thin plastic and water. The water component gives the lenses a soft consistency and flexibility. Soft contact lenses let oxygen through also, so that the eye to breathe. The majority of prescription contact lenses in the U.S. use soft contact lenses. Some of the reasons that are provided are: the fact that they are more for convenience, are easier than hard lenses to adapt to and can be worn for longer periods. Some of the soft lenses on the market include the following.
Extended wear lenses
Extended wear lenses are soft contact lenses made of materials designed to operate over a long period. This type of prescription lenses can be worn for 1-4 weeks without removal and cleaning. Although these types of lenses allow oxygen to penetrate and they tend to keep the eyes moist, they are probably not the best option for people with sensitivity and irritability.
Disposable Lenses
Disposable lenses are designed to be worn for a limited period and then discarded. This type of lens is ideal for people with sensitive or irritated eyes. Although it is usually more expensive than other types of lenses, the fact that they are replaced daily by a new pair she holds a very low risk of infection.

Today, LASIK surgery has a very real possibility for millions around the world. However, if you are toying with the idea that this operation is done, then here are a few things you need to know.
Stop with contacts
They must be prepared to stop wearing contacts for at least 1-4 weeks before the actual date LASIK surgery. Gas permeable lenses require the most time from lenses. Extended wear contact lenses may be the shape of the cornea can affect the results of the surgery. No more make-up
Yes, you must stop using perfume or makeup or even cream the day before the basics of LASIK surgery. With these products may cause inflammation of deposits, which can cause haze or scarring.
Other eye diseases must be evaluated
Some eye problems like glaucoma, diabetes or eye disease may be worsened if LASIK surgery is performed. Your doctor should be a careful examination to look for and treat these problems.
It is probably not covered by insurance
There are very few insurance policies, the LASIK surgery. Most surgeons offer financing if you prefer to make payments.
Dry eyes? It could get worse!
If you suffer from dry eye condition LASIK surgery, then it could be worse. Ideally, you need to make the dry eye condition is treated first and then go in for surgery.
High astigmatism or severe myopia is not 100% correct
While most LASIK surgical procedure will correct nearsightedness and astigmatism, an extremely high degree of refractive error “can not be fully corrected. Other operations are available when LASIK does not work for you.

Glaucoma, the primary cause of preventable blindness, affects many people from the newly born babies, aging seniors. Although it is technically not an eye disease, it is actually a degenerative condition can be detected, treated and hampered by periodic simple and painless eye examinations and follow-up treatments. If caught in the early stages, an ophthalmologist can detect, treat and inhibit, the ravishing effects of glaucoma. So what exactly is glaucoma? Glaucoma is a term used to describe a degenerative eye disease which is characterized by elevated intraocular pressure (or high) in the eye, leading to the deterioration of the optic nerve and retinal ganglion cells. If untreated, glaucoma can eventually lead to partial or complete loss of vision. This condition is irreversible eye of the leading causes of avoidable blindness, steals the vision of many people each year.
What causes this degenerative eye disease has? Alarming, the exact cause of glaucoma is unknown. For unknown reasons, blocking the passages (the eye by the fluid flow) in the eye leads to increased pressure on the optic nerve and retinal ganglion cells. During this time, untreated glaucoma, the severe damage to delicate nerve fibers and blood vessels exposed in the region of optic nerve, causing loss of vision.
In whom glaucoma occurs most frequently?
* Individuals who suffer from diabetes.
* Individuals over the age of 40
* People vulnerable to the development of glaucoma.
* Individuals who are nearsighted.
* Children vulnerable to the development of childhood glaucoma.
What are other risk factors for glaucoma?
Glaucoma can occur as a complication of other medical problems such as:
* Advanced cataracts
* Eye injuries
* Eye Surgery
* Inflammation of the membrane or middle Uvea within the eye (uveitis)
* Certain eye tumors
How damaging is glaucoma?
The nerve center provide all the signals from the retina to the brain. The deterioration of the bundle of nerve fibers restricts the flow and quality of the signals to the brain, leading to a loss of vision.
What are the warning signs of glaucoma?
For many people, the signs or symptoms of glaucoma vary depending on the type of degenerative eye disease has. The first of two major classes of glaucoma is primary open-angle glaucomaPoag), the most common subtype of glaucoma. This type of degenerative eye disease has slowly developed initially without pain. In fact, Primary open-angle glaucoma is difficult to see without a special eye exam because there are no early warning signs. Poag can gradually destroy your vision without warning. The first character may occur after the person has experienced a degree of vision loss has already been.
The second most common subtype of glaucoma is acute angle-closure GlaukomAACG), as a medical emergency, because rapid or a sudden increase in pressure inside the eye – called intraocular pressure (IOP) – could lead to partial or complete blindness. The sudden blockage of drainage channels in your eye is the perpetrator. Warning signs are: a rapid increase in pressure in the eye, pain, blurred vision, the appearance of colored rings around lights, as well as redness in the eyes.
How can glaucoma be prevented?
As mentioned above, early detection and treatment of glaucoma significantly reduced the risk of vision loss. Contrary to popular belief, glaucoma is an irreversible condition that is preventable eye. It is imperative that you have, it is important to draw attention to an ophthalmologist to reduce the risk of severe glaucoma visual morbidity and blindness if caught in the early stages. A highly-trained ophthalmologist can give you a comprehensive Optometric examination, during which he or she tests your eyes for glaucoma.
See a regular ophthalmologist, because any loss of vision from glaucoma is often permanent and can not be restored. A simple, painless examination is the key to maintaining your vision. Remember, untreated glaucoma is a silent thief of sight, which robs people of their vision every day. Do you have a thorough ophthalmologist check your eyes regularly to protect your vision. They are very happy that you have done.

Everyone on this planet starts in the same way. One sperm cell fertilizes an egg. As each day passes, something new developed. Within two to three weeks to develop the eye and even after birth, eye and vision continues to develop and grow stronger. In fact, it is not until three years that a child is the same vision as adults. Eye Care is as important if not more than an adult.
At birth, the child’s eyes checked for any visual congenital defects of the eyes. The mother has a detailed family history looking for any possible genetic defects. If there is a possibility of a hereditary or birth defects, the pediatrician may recommend further tests to determine whether the baby is haunted. After the first eye exam, rigorous tests are usually recommended at six months, three years and then every year after five years. If the pediatrician notices any abnormalities regularly, he or she may recommend a visit to an ophthalmologist for Pediatric Cardiology. Diseases such as cataract and glaucoma are not isolated to only the elderly. Pediatric cataracts and how they occur and are a bit pediatricians and eye care professionals should be sought.
Most children have healthy, normal eyes, but a few are born with serious diseases or disorders of the eye, some of which may not be obvious.
* White pupil – may suggest cataract, tumor, inflammation, or retinal solve.
* Lump, swelling or hanging the lid – can be an inflammation, which is a state of emergency if it happens suddenly, and the lid is red and hot. Also may indicate muscle weakness or tumor causing blockage of vision.
* Large cornea – this may be a sign of glaucoma in both newborn and infant, especially if the child’s eyes water and avoids light.
* Eye turning inwards or outwards. Eye (s) incorrectly (rotated or not) or “lazy eye”. Eye turned in or out could lead to loss of vision.
* Dancing Eyes – Eyes jiggle or rotate; child is not able to see.
* Head tilted to one shoulder, to the front (chin down), or on one side. – Child can be avoided double or blurred vision.
* Part of the iris is missing. – Can the outward sign of a defect from the inside of the eye.
* Unequal pupils – a larger school. Can a sign of nerve damage or the tumor is visible in one eye.
If the child is of age at the beginning of the school, the teacher often notices when the child has problems with his vision. It might be a reluctance to try to read the blackboard or eyes to see printed words on a piece of paper. The teacher will then either the rule talks with parents about the problem or send a note home to discuss the need for an eye examination.
The actual eye exam may be different from that of an adult. If the child can not read, then forms to replace the more common letters. The test is a bit more difficult for the specialist because of the communication level. If a vision problem is detected, the eye doctor may or may not recommend glasses. Often a vision problem is age and the associated physician may choose to wait to see if the child is over. If glasses are prescribed.
The eyes and the vision is a valued asset. From the moment of birth, they are our window to the outside world. It is through them we know that color and brightness. A baby-eyes, and to absorb the outside world. Parents, teachers and doctors will monitor the child to ensure that the eyes and vision are working properly without errors. Eye exams are essential for all.
