You may have heard people say they have a &#8220;slipped&#8221; or &#8220;broken&#8221; disc in his back. You may have also heard terms like &#8220;bulging&#8221; or &#8220;protruding&#8221; discs. It is common &#8220;street names&#8221; that describe a herniated disc. <span id="more-74"></span><strong>The Truth About Herniated disks may Shock You</strong><br />
Did you know that when we asked for a MRI on people without <a href="http://www.reliefmd.com/">back pain</a>, as high as 85% of people would show evidence of a herniated disc? The truth is that if you have back pain, there&#8217;s a good chance, a herniated disc has nothing to do with the pain.<br />
Low back pain affects 80% of the American population at some point in their lives. And the 80% experience a first episode of back pain, the pain is resolved, with little or no intervention. In fact, only 10% of all back pain sufferers ever require surgery.<br />
But despite these favorable back pain statistics, a herniated disc diagnosis remains a cause for concern in people suffering with back pain.<br />
In order to alleviate this concern, it is important that you understand the process for determining the meaning of a herniated disc. Plus, you should know what steps you can reduce the chances for a herniated disc ever to a theme.<br />
<strong>How to End Your worrying &amp; your back pain</strong><br />
1. Understanding that the presence of low back pain, pain radiating down the leg, and a positive MRI does not necessarily ensure a herniated disc as the source of your back problem.<br />
The pain radiates into the buttocks and down the leg is often referred to as sciatica. Yes, sciatica pain can be irritation of the nerve root from a herniated disc. However, your chances of sciatica symptoms are the result of an irritation of the sciatic nerve from a structure outside the spine.<br />
To resolve this, a thorough physical examination should be conducted and the results confirmed with MRI films.<br />
<strong>WARNING</strong>: Your report of symptoms and a study on the MRI film is not a thorough physical examination. It should also include a detailed medical history, an actual assessment of your movement, strength, reflexes, sensation, and all relevant clinical tests and a review of the MRI film.<br />
2. Increase your awareness of specific symptoms, which might imply a more serious back problem.<br />
These include:<br />
* Fever in addition to intense back or neck pain.<br />
* Inability to manage daily activities.<br />
* Strong pain worsened over a period of weeks.<br />
* Return often pain.<br />
Seek immediate medical help if you should experience:<br />
* Numbness around crotch or genitals<br />
* Difficulty in passing urine or controlling<br />
* Numbness, needles or weakness in both legs<br />
* Unsteadiness when standing<br />

They work their arms, legs and abdomen, but also the poor out of the picture. And yet, with the right execution, back exercises can help to alleviate and even a lot of back pain. <span id="more-73"></span>As always, ask your doctor before beginning an exercise. Once the exercise program has been approved, you can start your routine. Stretching before and after each exercise is, of course, is recommended. Beginning of the exercise program slowly, working up to an increased workload as your back muscles are more in tone. It should not be long before you begin to see.<br />
The best exercises that I have found the back of the barbell bent row, the dead lift, lift the pelvis, the leg lift buttock lightener and the double leg lifts. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>So you have diagnosed with a herniated disc. How are you with the surgery? The good news is more than likely that you do not have to!<br />
As a former herniated disc patient myself, I wondered why or how I have led to this much <a href="http://www.reliefmd.com/">pain </a>in my back and left leg. The doctor diagnosed that this condition is said that I need for a May surgery. I was a little worried, and asked me how I to this debilitating condition in the first place and wanted to find alternative treatments, if possible, instead of the operation started.<br />
Not wanting to a herniated disc ever again, I studied intensively on the causes of herniated disc and found a few factors leading to this condition and what may be the cause of my herniated disc. <span id="more-72"></span>It was interesting to learn that it is more likely to see this condition in people aged 35 to 55 Obesity may result in additional pressure on the discs and even smoking can cause degeneration of the disc. Lifting heavy objects the wrong way by turning suddenly is an obvious cause. Not enough to eat nutritional foods such as fruits and vegetables and drink 8-10 glasses of water a day can really have an impact. We are always reminded that our health is based on what our bodies will receive food on a daily basis.<br />
The bad news is that sugar depletes our body of vitamins and minerals. It causes your body to not effectively absorb calcium and magnesium. Both are crucial for bone strength. Therefore, it is important to watch our intake of sugar, which is always difficult for me, if chocolate comes to mind!<br />
Stress also contributes. It is really hard to think happy thoughts, if this condition, you want more stress, but only know that there are very effective ways and means to eliminate the pain of the herniated disc that are not so drastic as surgery.<br />
What was very helpful in my recovery was stretching and strengthening exercises and a traction machine, I rented from my doctor. This type of therapy to facilitate the printing of the spine and muscles, ligaments and tendons around him. So that the pain decreased significantly, and I was feeling my back more flexible again with less <a href="http://www.reliefmd.com/">pain </a>and finally pain free.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.reliefmd.com/">Back pain</a> is a complex problem, and there is no simple answer to the question &#8220;What causes back pain?&#8221;<br />
One of the reasons that it is difficult to determine the causes of back pain, that there are many structures that can be injured in the lower back (lumbar) region. You can injure the muscles, ligaments, intervene tebral discs, nerve roots, the cartilage that lines the joints, bones in the lower back, or even the spinal cord. And of course you can violate several structures in the lumbar area.<br />
Okay, I think you get the point that the spine is complex. <span id="more-71"></span>Well, I will try to simplify, back pain, and focus on mechanical back pain (associated with osteoarthritis), a sort of problem that affects the lower back.<br />
Mechanical back pain or arthritis affects mainly the cartilage that lines the connections between the vertebrae of the lower back. It is as mechanical back pain, because compression (a mechanical phenomenon) is usually the cause of the <a href="http://www.reliefmd.com/">pain</a>.<br />
When the joints get compressed, the cartilage removed. When the cartilage removed to pay, you get your joints stiff and achy.<br />
Here are 6 factors that can contribute extra pressure on the joints of the lower back.<br />
# 1 a sedentary way of life and sitting in front of a computer requires extra pressure on the joints of your lower back. If you sit, your upper body weight is only through your back, compared to when your standing ankle, knee and thigh muscles are some of the pressure from your back.<br />
# 2 Bad Posture provides additional burden on the lower back. If your body is not in good alignment, you have more pressure on the area of alignment and you will be less stability in this area.<br />
# 3 Weak abdominal muscles can increase the pressure on the lower back. The abdominal muscles to maintain the position of the pelvis and lower back and stop the back of over-arching.<br />
# 4 Weak muscles of the lower back can increase the pressure on the lower back. The lower back muscles as well as the abdominal muscles play an important role in the stabilization of the lower back.<br />
# 5 Poor flexibility can increase the pressure on the lower back. If your body is rigid, it does not move efficiently. If your body is stiff in one area, additional pressure will be on a different area, so the stiffness.<br />
# 6 Poor exercise technique &amp; Poor lifting technique can be more pressure on the lower back. Improper form during the exercise and poor body mechanics when lifting is extra stress on the lower back.<br />
Above is just a quick and easy view of the mechanical back pain. Prolonged sitting, poor posture, weak abdominal muscles, weak lower back muscles, poor flexibility and improper exercise or lifting technique can increase the pressure on the cartilage that lines the joints of the lower back.<br />
As a physical therapist, I try, the people suffer from a slightly achy lower back up front on the computer at regular intervals to move. In addition, I encourage people, make sure that their attitude and exercise regularly to strengthen the abdominal and back muscles.<br />
And finally, I have the people to stretch regularly and use good lifting technique to reduce the pressure on the lower back.<br />
